The Art of Living Black (TAOLB) is the only
annual non-juried Group Exhibition and Self-Guided Art
Tour in the Bay Area to exclusively feature local artists
of African descent.

TAOLB 2008
features over 70 emerging and established
artists who participate in the non-juried Group Exhibition
at the Richmond Art Center from February 5 - March 14.
Additional work is
featured by the 2007 Jan Hart-Schuyers
Artistic
Achievement Award recipients: JaeMe Bereal,
Marion Coleman
and Howard Mackey.

The Art of Living Black Art Tour is an opportunity for the
public to participate in a FREE, self-guided tour of various
locations throughout the Bay Area where Black artists will
display and sell their work. Meet emerging and established
artists, see a full
collection of their work, and purchase
artwork directly from the artists. Select from a variety
of items including paintings, textiles, photography,
sculpture, prints, ceramics, stone carving, jewelry, and
mixed media.

On Saturday, February 9, 3 - 5pm, attend the reception
for the artists at the Richmond Art Center. At this event,
three artists, will be given the Jan Hart-Schuyers Artistic
Achievement Award. This award is presented in memory
of Jan Hart-Schuyers, artist, art activist, and co-founder
of The Art of Living Black, who passed away in 1998 **.
